Freddy will be presenting on Strategic Vocabulary Instruction:
Beyond the core vocabulary common to all texts, the words of narrative and informational texts are different. Words unique to narrative texts frequently refer to concepts students know (e.g., sadness) but are infrequent literary words (e.g., melancholy). Words unique to informational texts usually represent complex concepts that students may not understand (e.g., convection). These different word types call for distinctive forms of vocabulary instruction—the focus of this presentation.
